Kim Michelle Toft
Background
Kim Michelle Toft is a full time marine artist, author, illustrator and publisher of environmental children’s books depicting vibrant underwater worlds handpainted on silk.
- 5 years teaching in Far North Queensland.
- 5 years graphic designer in Adelaide, South Australia.
- 20 years full time silk artist/illustrator and author in Northern NSW.
- 19 solo exhibitions at the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas, Gold Coast, Bisbane and Noosa with sales exceeding over 1,200 paintings, including sales to Morris West, Jerry Hall and Mick Jagger.
- Featured artist at the Maui Marine Art Expo, Hawaii 1996.
- First four children's books - One Less Fish, Neptune's Nursery, Turtle's Song and The World That We Want - selling more than 100,000 copies in Australia, USA, New Zealand, South Africa, and South Korea. All four books have received international and national awards. Publisher: QUP
- A Sea of Words with companion Alphabet Wall Frieze - released in May 2006, awarded Notable Book in the CBCA Awards 2007. Publisher: Silkim Books.
- My latest book, The 12 Underwater Days of Christmas, released September 2007. Publisher SIlkim Books. A CD is currently in production to go with this popular Christmas classic. Release date October 2008.
